This Holiday, We're Donating to Keep Syunik Safe

Today is Black Friday, a day that typically marks the beginning of holiday specials and discounts for many businesses. Our team had also been planning to participate in Black Friday sales, but last week during our team call, at the front of all our minds was the chilling news from Armenia of more aggression on the border.

Our products are handcrafted entirely in the village of Aragyugh. Our success as a business depends on there being a safe and strong Armenia on the map. Waking up to news of threats to its territorial integrity is not just professional, it's personal. This is where many of our friends, relatives, and co-workers live.

During the 44 Day Artsakh War, we tried to play our part by donating 100% of proceeds to the Soldiers' Fund. Given recent events, we've decided to once more divert a percentage of our sales to helping Armenians.

This Black Friday, 15% of every Nairian order will go towards providing medical care and equipment to the people of Syunik, the southernmost province of Armenia, where many of the recent invasions are taking place.

This tactic, of substituting discounts for donations, is one we will continue to employ as we feel necessary. It can often feel quite helpless watching events unfold from abroad. And as a business (especially one which is focused on beauty and wellness!), there is only so much we can do. But this is definitely something.

We are still hammering out all the final details with our partners, but we will be working with a non-profit organization called SYUN, as well as a local organization called ARK Armenia, which is based in Kapan and able to distribute resources to local border villages.

We will update this blog post with more information very soon, so continue to check here to find out what's going on.

UPDATE:

A big thank you to all of our customers who shopped during Black Friday. Your decision to buy products at full price during this period during which traditionally everyone expects deep sales has resulted in the donation of $1055 to the SYUN project, and ARK Armenia. We are excited and inspired that we are able to share not only our love of made in Armenia products, but also our concerns for the wellbeing of the country. Given the success of this campaign, we will continue to do similar promotions from time to time, until hopefully one day they will no longer be necessary.

Շնորհակալություն (Thank you!)
